Philip Howes Carlton Acer
Philip's Acer is based on Viva running gear. Not sure if they ALL were based on Viva's!
Dave Sefton's Carrera
Comment from Dave....
I bought mine off Ebay in May 2005. I remember seeing them in Kitcar magazine in the late eighties and remembering how smart they looked.Never thought I'd end up with one.
Mine was built in Warrington in 1988 and registered as Carlton Carrera, sports body type, registered 01 08 1978 so I guess it used the mk4 cortina ID.Reg no is GLG 119T
This Carrera had cortina front clip, capri axle and dash and 1.6 pinto "power". This was soon replaced, once I'd got my grubby mit's on it, by a 355 cu.in Oldsmobile v8,built 12 years ago by myself to produce 500 hp!
This is coupled to a th350 auto with manual shift conversion and a powerlock jaguar axle of 3.77:1 ratio.Front suspension is rebuilt Cortina but with modified lower wishbones to take Gaz coil-overs(fully adjustable) and 295mm dia Brembo vented discs(courtesy of Peugeot 406 coupe 3.0v6) and Nissan 300 twin turbo 4 pot calipers.EBC pads all round also.Master cylinder is landrover 110 lwb series 3(1/4 " bigger piston than cortina)
The chassis has been highly modified at the rear and a Honda HRV Safety Devices roll cage (6 point) modified to fit.
Cobra Monaco FIA seats and 6 point FIA harnesses fit the insides a treat.
Although there's a lot of work done there's still load's to do and it's going to be made a bit more awkward by my moving house in 3 weeks time but it will be finished and not be bunged back on ebay!
MMMMMmmmmm..... NICE! :-) Can't wait for this one to be finished![ed]
Anyone else got one ?
If anyone has their own Carlton pictures then please contact me.
In the meantime... here's a friendly face :-) .... just don't tell the wife!
...and no, I know, that's not a Carrera she's sitting in!
